BALANCE

Refers to the distribution of visual weight in a work of art.Inpainting,it is the visual equilibrium of the elements that couses the total image to appear balanced.Balance can be either symmetrical in a work of art.




CONTRAST
Defined as the separation between the darkest and brightest areas of the image.Increase contrast and you increase the separation between dark and bright,making shadows darker and highlights brighter.


EMPHASIS

Provides the focal point for the piece.It is away of making the element that is most important stand out in the design.Emphasis is sometimes called dominance



PROPORTION

Involves the relationship of size between objects.Proportion is also relative sizes of surface areas of different colours.



PATTERNS

Uses the arts elements in planned or random hepetiton to enhance surface of paintingorsculptures.Patterns of ten occur in nature and artist use similar repeated motifs to creat pattern in their work .Pattern increases visual excitement by euriching surface interest.



GRADIATION

Colour and tone,from warm to cool and dark to light produce aerial perspective.As tone becomes lighter and colours become cooler,apparent distance increase.
